Innovation and Startup Policy
The National Innovation and Start-up Policy (NISP) 2019 for students and faculty in Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) was officially launched on 11th September 2019 at AICTE, New Delhi. This policy is designed to guide HEIs in promoting student-driven innovations and startups. It encourages both students and faculty members to actively engage in entrepreneurial activities within campus environments.
The policy aims to enable institutions to build, streamline, and strengthen their campus-based innovation and entrepreneurial ecosystems. It fosters creative problem-solving, nurtures an entrepreneurial mindset among students, and promotes collaboration with ecosystem enablers and stakeholders at regional, national, and international levels.
The implementation of the policy is being overseen by the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell (MoE’s MIC) in coordination with AICTE, UGC, state/UT governments, and universities. It builds upon the earlier AICTE Start-up Policy 2016 that complemented the Startup India and Stand-up India programs launched by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India.
GGSIPU has also established a dedicated Innovation and Incubation Centre to support students from the University and its affiliated colleges in their startup journeys.
Note for Students: Groups of students interested in launching their own startup ventures should connect with the Institution’s Innovation Cell (IIC) through their respective Heads of Departments (HoDs).
